Last Post of My Journey

 Hello, my dear readers,

After completing another semester fully involved in technology, I'm sharing my final blog post. Unlike previous years, this one taught me about new perspectives and applications of technology in the classroom. As a candidate teacher, I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this course and the experiments. 

Even though it can be challenging to prepare materials for tasks at times, I'm grateful for every task that comes up and proud of my partner and myself for finishing them all. In a world that evolves with technology, we teachers need to be flexible and willing to adapt as well. Furthermore, I believe that we ought to teach our students about these innovations and support their educational journeys. In my opinion, one of the best examples of this is the AR/VR integrated teaching material we have created, as it immerses students in a technological environment, various cultures, and new locations while also adding to the learning process and making it realistic. I'm thrilled with everything we've accomplished and learned thus far.

AI-integrated Teaching Material

 Hello everyone!

This week, my friend  Arda Duraker and I created instructional materials with AI integration for our high school prep students.

We designed tasks that they can integrate using AI tools into their learning process to enhance their comprehension and widen their perspectives. For the film unit, we had our students write a film script. Afterward, we integrated artificial intelligence tools to help them use their imaginations to come up with a character and a poster for the movie. Following the assignment, we requested feedback and evaluations from our students regarding the process in general. 

 I hope the material we've prepared has been useful and instructive for our students.

AR/VR Integrated Teaching Material

 Hello friends,

As part of this week's assignment, I prepared material for our students using AR/VR technology with my friend Arda Duraker. We chose a city for our students to explore, and we integrated AR/VR technology to give them the impression that they were visiting there. We prepared images, and informative videos to introduce the city, and we also found websites for them to explore the places 360 degrees. We converted the links of the materials we used into QR codes and added them to the worksheet. 

I think the handout would be very beneficial for our EFL students to discover new cities, cultures, and learn with augmented reality on their own. This technology provides learners with an authentic learning opportunity.

Flipped Teaching

 Hello everyone,

In this blog post, we will discuss the idea of flipped teaching, along with its main ideas, advantages, and ways it's changing education in the future.

What is flipped teaching?

Flipped teaching is an innovation in education that challenges traditional methods while encouraging a more student-centered approach. In a flipped classroom, students participate in lectures and readings outside of class, often accessing online resources or videos. After that, class time is dedicated to interactive, group projects, conversations, and problem-solving activities that let students put what they've learned into practice. Flipped learning has many benefits, including more individualized learning and higher levels of engagement. However, some drawbacks must be considered, such as differences in technology and the requirement for teachers and students to adjust. This advanced technology teaching method can help minimize the negative aspects and optimize the advantages with a well-planned implementation strategy.

My peer Arda Duraker and I worked collaboratively to explore benefits and learn how to implement flipped teaching in our language classes. We created an instructional vocabulary video about games and hobbies for 5th-grade students. We used Animaker as our tool, and we enhanced our video with visuals and GIFs to demonstrate the meaning of the words that we were going to teach. However, it was challenging to create an animation and design each slide along with our voices in the beginning while using our tool, I realized how much it is enjoyable and nourishing to create a teaching video using technology because Animaker provides nearly infinitive choices and opportunities to materialize your purposes.

Corpus-based Teaching Material

Welcome again to my digital diary of exploring technology. Fasten your seatbelts, dear readers, as we set sail into the endless sea of technology. I am excited to share the new adventure with you.

 This week's post is about integrating Corpus-based teaching materials into our classrooms. In this task, I worked with my peer Arda Duraker. We created a worksheet on Canva about health problems and emergencies for our preparatory class students and used SKell to enhance students' knowledge. Working on the worksheet we prepared, Our students will be able to test their former knowledge of the topic and use the corpus to expand their vocabulary. They will learn about diseases, problems, and see how to use collocations about them by integrating technology into their learning process. After this activity we expect our students to be informed about health issues and situations using SKell will foster their understanding of basic health issues, their causes, and symptoms that might they face in their real lives. So that they will be able to express their problems to other people or a doctor and have a sense of how to live a healthy life and give advice about issues by using their problem-solving skills. 

I think using the corpus in this activity will improve students' comprehension and knowledge while helping them to achieve the objectives of the unit. But as a problem might occur, students can get lost while using SKell doing their research and end up finding irrelevant and unnecessary information about the topic but don't worry we are here as teachers to help and guide students. 😊

FINAL POST

  And here is the end of this journey. I am writing my final post on this blog. I want to share my thoughts and feelings about my experiences.

 I wrote this blog for academic purposes and, when I started I was shy and did not know what to write or how to carry out the tasks. I had no motivation to do those things because the idea of doing all of them seemed hard for me. However, now when I looked what I have done thus far,  my projects and tasks, I am proud of myself. Each task taught me how can get information from various ways and sources. Also, I learned how to use all of this information properly to improve myself and my skills in technology use. I saw that producing something by using technology is very easy and useful because there are a lot of sources, websites, and tools to help you. Even if some of the tasks were challenging and hard to do for me like podcasting because I hate hearing my voice, I really had fun during the process and after seeing my product. I feel satisfied because I can see my improvement and create an idea about how can use technology in my classes when I become a teacher. Most of my teachers barely use technology in our courses so I did not realize that technology can be used in various ways for teaching and enhance our understanding for better learning.

DIGITAL POSTER

 My final project in this blog is creating a digital poster. Our instructor gave us a number of topic options and wanted us to choose one of them. I chose to make an educational magazine cover to match my blog's concept. I used Canva as my tool. I am accustomed to this tool so it was not hard for me to use it. I used Canva to create a personal planner, it is very useful because there is as a lot of themes and templates. This task was enjoyable to make because it was easy and fun. I searched for some magazine cover examples about my topic to have an idea. I found visuals and ideas to create my magazine cover. I used one of the templates on Canva, and it made easier my work. This experiment was fun and interesting. I really enjoy it when I make a visual project because I like to create things and make them aesthetic. Also, I want to improve my skills in using these tools and websites that make me creative.
