A GATEWAY TO KNOWLEDGE: WIKIS

A wiki is a collaborative site where users can add, edit or remove content. You can find any information about what you want to learn or you can share your ideas about what you have known. Wiki sites have numerous and limitless databases. Additionally, Wikis are one of the most popular online ways to read, write, and share information.

 It is really entertaining that you can have fun and at the same time you get knowledge. The number and the content of the different wikis really surprise me and I had a lot of fun in my wiki experience. While some sites are hard to understand and restrictive to letting you edit and share, others are easy and more relaxing  

In our Educational Technologies class, we are informed about wikis and how to use the. Our task was to watch a movie with a peer and make a review about the movie. My peer Arda Duraker and I choose to watch Gone Girl. After watching the movie we shared our opinions and made a discussion about the movie. It was entertaining to work with a peer while watching the movie, we helped each other while making this task. It was a great experiment for me. I will continue to use the wiki sites to take advantage of their endless sources.

What is 21st century learning?

  21st-century learning is about giving students the skills and information to live successfully in this new technology world as a part of the classroom experience. 21st-century learning provides students with the ability to use social skills, digital literacy, and technology to make their life easier in this developing world. In this learning, students should be open to new information and evaluate this information and be collaborative. Also, the main aim of this is to teach students how to think critically and be creative with the information they acquire because, as technology develops fastly it becomes easier to reach the information but most of the learners have no idea about what to do with this information and how to use effectively in their social life. Thus, technology has a great deal of information and an impact on the world we live so it is important to use it effectively to improve our knowledge and skills. That's why it is important to integrate technology into the learning process. As a teacher candidate, my belief is we should educate our students to be more creative, open-minded, and confident with the information they will acquire with the assistance of technology. In this way, we can prepare our learners for the problems of this new world and bring them a global perspective to succeed in their life.

 My name is Kübra. I am a 19-year-old college student. I was born and raised in Kayseri, and attend college in İstanbul. I'm studying English Language Teaching and now I'm a sophomore at Marmara University. I'm a beginner at blogging and started this blog for academic purposes. I have always wanted to be a teacher it is my dream job. To become a succesful teacher a long journey waiting for me to explore and learn new things about my job.
